Take Your Child to Work Day

Often when people hear that I’m a golf pro, their initial reaction is “what an awesome job”. They assume that I spend my days just playing golf.  While, yes, I think being a golf professional is awesome, I really don’t spend that much time playing golf.

Golf is a business and so my days are actually filled with operations, management, customer service, teaching, merchandising, etc.

But then there are days when my “work” is actually playing golf. Yesterday was one of those days.

It was “Take Your Child to Work Day”  so I took my son to play golf. This is the first year my son wanted to miss school for the day. Since he is a straight A student (yes, I am bragging a little here) my wife and I decided a day off to play golf as a reward for his hard work all year was earned.

We played 18 holes at Pennsauken Country Club.

The morning was a little chilly.

I didn’t play a great round of golf. I hit a few shots thin, a few shots heavy. I missed a few shots left and a few shots right.

But it was still a great day. I spent quality time with my son playing a sport we both enjoy.

So yesterday, yes my job was awesome!
